Busy Week for Auction Group

Life in the auction room is never dull but the two salerooms which form part of the Bedford based Beard Group have had a very busy week.

The T.V. cameras were rolling at Charles Ross Auctioneers of Woburn when a crew filming an edition of ‘Heir Hunters’ saw auctioneers Russell Beard and Peter Mason put 600 lots of antiques and collectables under the hammer.

Star of the show was a ceramic bowl which was decorated by Picasso selling for an impressive £1,400.

Meanwhile, over in Banbury Holloway’s Auctioneers had their Fine Art Sale which included a selection of valuable jewellery and an interesting collection of writing slopes and ornamental boxes. Bidding both in the saleroom and online was brisk with good values being achieved, many of which were well in excess of the guide prices in the catalogue.

In total, the two auctions achieved in excess of £200,000 worth of sales.

Charles Ross Auctioneers are sending their expert valuers to the Summerhill Farm Shop in Cardington on Friday 4 th November with jewellery specialist Jenny Knott providing a valuation service at the Charles Ross Auction Rooms in Woburn on Monday 31 st October. This service is free of charge.

The next sale in Woburn is on Saturday 12th November and will include a guest auctioneer who won the right to wield the gavel at a charity auction.
